Expedition: 1029 otherwise known as CalArts Halloween 2016.  I was the Co-Technical Director on this space themed event.  My specific purview was the rigging of all the truss, the alcohol distribution room and budget/crew management.

During this process as Technical Director I was charged with communicating with CalArts facilities and the production team to ensure that everything from fire code and ADA code was considered and to make sure when scenery was installed it was done safely and quickly.

The Event themed 8 spaces of the building and all the spaces needed to be cohesive and follow the desired theme.

Expedition 1029

The Main Gallery or the inside of the space station.  This is where the main events happened.

We had a Plexi DJ table that was lit by lighting to create a glowing effect.

The alcohol distribution room was the alien artifact storage room.  There were 4 bars for alcohol distrubution a window to space that was a rear projection screen, and 3 artifact tubes with various items on display.

The outdoor areas were the entrance to the space station where you walked through the welcome arch.

We hung 10,000+ pounds from our house truss system.  The math was all carefully calculated based on weights of light, cable and the weight of the truss we were hanging.  The PDF of the Point layout drafting and the math is below.
