I was the technical director for Peer/Gynt at California Institute of the Arts.  This production required me to communicate with the the design team and production management on a daily basis to ensure that all elements were installed per the design.

I was also responsible for managing a team of 8 who helped me create the design.  My responsibility was to supervise the drafting and build processes,  which included redlining drawings and balancing a budget through the process.

This process included several moving and automated objects .

Peer/Gynt

This image shows the walls in open position.  They were PLC controlled and each cue was called by the stage manager as to weather the walls were open or closed at that point in the show.  They could be opened both clockwise and counter clockwise.

The tilting platform needed to not tilt at one point in the show.  Stops were made that were inserted for the moment and then the turntable was spun to remove them all at the same time.

The walls were made of vinyl panels that were painted white by our scenic department.  They were light enough that the actors could play with them.

Peer/Gynt had 4 key pieces.

Walls that opened and closed at different points throughout the show.

A turntable that was actor motivated.

A platform that needed to tilt in all directions.

Platforms around the perimeter for actors to walk on
